The Enugu State Government has allocated N55 bn for the construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of urban and rural roads in the 2025.

The government has alao set aside funds for various offices, including N50.27 billion for the Office of the Governor, N665.71 million for the Deputy Governor’s office, and N3.42 billion for the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

These allocations are part of the state’s overall budget of N971 billion for 2025, which was presented by Governor Peter Mbah to the Enugu State House of Assembly. The budget proposal includes significant investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

The Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Chris-Roberts Ozongwu, gave these figures last week during the breakdown of the 2025 Enugu State Budget Appropriation at the Enugu NUJ Press Centre.

Ozongwu also said that the dualising of the Nike-Ugwuogo- Opi-Nsukka Road will gulp the sum of N10 billion, while the sum of N1 billion will go for the completion of Ugwuogo Nike-Agu Ukehe-Umunko Road as well as the 15km Phase in Igbo Etiti/Enugu local government areas.

On Sports, Ozongwu said that N10 billion would be used for the renovation of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, while N3 billion is for the revamping of Awgu Games Village in Awgu local government area.

According to him, the sum of N146 billion is mapped out for the equipping of the Smart Schools across the 260 political wards in the state, while N100 billion is for the construction of “200 Integrated Model Smart Comprising of 3 classroom block for Nursery, 6 classroom blocks for primary and 6 classroom blocks for junior secondary in the 250 wards in the 17 local government areas.”

Additionally, Ozongwu said that N500 million is mapped out for the first phase of construction of 3 3-story buildings for the standard Library, Auditorium and classroom at Awgu Campus.
