The Centre for Value in Leadership (CVL), promoted by Prof. Pat Utomi, has honoured two prominent figures in Nigeria’s transportation and manufacturing sectors.
They are Chief (Dr.) Alexander Chika Okafor, OFR, the founder and Group Executive Chairman of Chikason Group; and Chief (Dr.) Chidi Anyaegbu, founder and Chairman of Chisco group.
The honour was conferred on them on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) centre on Victoria Island, Lagos, during the 63rd edition of the CVL LWT (Leader Without Title) Leadership Tribute Colloquium, with the theme-Transportation as the Anchor of Economy.
On hand to discuss the theme were prominent personalities in the transportation sector including Prof. Odewunmi Samuel, a Professor of Transportation at the Lagos State University; Vivian Chiezie-Azubuike, the Director General of the Nigeria Chamber of Shipping; Damilola Emmanuel, the General Manager/CEO, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA); and Frank Kintum, Editor, Transport Day Media.
The discussants agreed that there was a need to promote public-private sector arrangements in the transportation sector in order to improve on the overall infrastructural development of the sector.
Chief Okafor who is currently the President, Nigeria-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, is a consummate businessman, a philanthropist and purpose-driven personality.
Chief Anyaegbu who has served as president, chairman, fellow and member of different boards, commissions, businesses and organisations, is currently the chairman, of the Anambra state security trust fund.
In his message, Prof. Pat Utomi, stated that “the bottom line remains that our limited choices in so important a sector have been made possible by hard-nosed entrepreneurs. Among them are two very dear brothers of mine, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu and Chief Chika Okafor, of Chisco and Chikason fame, respectively”.
Centre for Value in Leadership is a non-profit organization set up in 2004 with the goal of equipping generations of young people with values and leadership skills, which will make them become effective, value-driven leaders that will serve as catalysts for improvement of the quality of life in our society.
