The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurum, Delta State, are on the verge of fostering closer synergy on Electric Vehicle Technology.
This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Vice Chancellor of FUPRE, Engr. Prof. Akpofure Rim Rukeh to the NADDC Headquarters on Thursday 15th February, 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, Engr. Prof. Rim Rukeh applauded the NADDC Boss for his high level of dedication to duty and the energy to drive the Nigeria Automotive Industry forward.
The Vice Chancellor said the visit was to strengthen the already existing relationship between the two organisations.
He seized the opportunity to express the readiness of the University to key into the Vehicle Electrification programme of the Council for greener future, adding that the EV Charging Station would add value to the College of Engineering & Technology in the University.
In his response, the Director General, NADDC, Joseph Osanipin stated that the Council by its mandate would continue to engage relevant stakeholders with a view to harnessing the potentials in the sector and propelling the local automotive industry to an enviable height.
He said ” We can leverage on some of the expertise you have for more productive engagement with your University, especially in the area of Mechatronics training”.
Osanipin expressed his heartfelt gratitude and commended the University for their achievements, not only in the petroleum sector but also in the Auto Industry which has played a pivotal role in fostering Engineering development in the country within a stretch of time.
The University had won the Shell Eco Marathon Award in two different competitions, in view of their academic excellence.
It would be recalled that the NADDC in line with its Vehicle Electrification Programme had established EV/Solar -Powered charging stations in three Universities in Nigeria.
