Three months after re-opening the run way of the domestic wing (18L/36R) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos, the federal government has shut down the runway of the international wing.
According to FAAN, “This is to notify the public that runway 18R/36L of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, has been closed for eight weeks for maintenance work to carried out.
“Taxi way B-18L will be used for all flight operations,” it said.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced that Runway 18R and 36L of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, will be shut for eight weeks down for maintenance.
The Runway 18R and 36L is specifically dedicated for international flights.
Hence, all international flights are to be diverted to Runway 18L and 36R located at the domestic wing of the Lagos airport.
Industry operators fear the new development may cause flight delays and delayed boarding.
