Jubril made this observation at the opening of the second edition of exhibition in Lagos recently. According to him, “Multimodal is a platform created to help importers & exporters find the most effective supply chain solutions to move their goods more reliably, therefore it is expected that all logistics & transport service providers would be available on the exhibition floor to showcase their solutions and generate new business”. He said “some of the biggest challenges we are faced with today in the industry, are human capacity development, empowerment, continuity, Infrastructure, and the ease of doing business. The need to rectify these issues is imminent, and we at CILT Nigeria are keen on proffering solutions through our activities in the institution, which has also brought us to this ‘marriage’ as we often call it, with the event organizers”. Jubril explained that “to enhance growth recovery while ensuring sustainable development, the ease to doing business is inevitable. As we all know, a hassle free and seamless transportation system and the movement of goods and services from one end of the country to another, through multimodal transportation, will bring about the development and economic restoration that we all seek, not neglecting the effect it will also have on the productivity of other sectors, improve our rating on the global Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and more so, industrialization”. In his welcome address, Commercial Director, Clarion Events West Africa, Mr. Russell Hughes said “as a global group, Clarion Events Limited are responsible for over 180 trade exhibitions every year organised by our 13 international offices”. He recalled that “in September 2016 we established an international office right here in Lagos. It is our belief there is huge opportunity for future growth and development and that Lagos is well positioned as the commercial hub for the West African region. Over the past 18 months we have successfully organised exhibitions in the Manufacturing & Agro-Allied, Transport & Logistics and Retail sectors delivered by our team here in Nigeria with support from our Head Office in UK”. He added that “having delivered international trade fairs across Africa for the past 20 years, Clarion Events are widely recognised as the leading organiser in the region with offices in Cape Town, South Africa and now here in Lagos, Nigeria as well as an appointed Country Partner office in Nairobi, Kenya”. Explaining the objectives for holding the exhibition, he said “Multimodal West Africa is to provide an annual platform where importers and exporters can meet with freight forwarders, shipping lines, clearing agents, ports & terminals as well as government representatives in the region in order to find the most cost-effective ways to move their cargo, learn about the new port and terminal developments and have discourse on what investments are being planned for the transport & logistics sector in the region”. ]]>
