The  leadership of Shipping Zonal Council of the Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers And Water Transport Senior Staff Association,  led by  the  Capt Awonuga S. Adetayo,  is planning a one day  training  workshop for her check off dues paying Members.

With the theme “Good Work Ethics/International Best Practice in Seafaring Profession”, the event is scheduled to hold 15th December 2021. The high powered training will be manned by international renowned certified Captains and Chief Engineers, and will properly equip members on best international practice. The training will take place at the National Secretariat  14, Oskar Ibru Road, former Marine Road Apapa, 10am Prompt.

The training packaged by National Vice President Shipping Zone, Chief Engr. Wale George and the Admin/Asst Secretary Comr Ifeanyi A. Chukwu, is set to spur core professional value and chart a new beginning in the way and manner seafarers are expected to carry out their duties in line with international best practices and principles.

It would be recalled that on June 24 this year, the Shipping Zonal Council of NMNO&WTSSA organised her first Annual Colloquium in commemoration with international day of seafarers. The event was well attended by who is who in the Seafaring profession, prominent amongst them are Capt Ben Gold Gageche, former National President NMNO&WTSSA; Capt Alao Tajudeen, National President Association of Master Mariners; Capt Thomas Kemewerigha, former National President NMNO&WTSSA and Chief Engr. Bob Joseph Yousou, National President NMNO&WTSSA.

Others are  Engr. Alalade Mathew, Ex Officio and former National President NMNO&WTSSA, Capt Ogunsakin Williams, Capt. Ade Olopoeniyan, and Capt Awonuga S. Adetayo Shipping  Zonal Chairman.

Also included are, Chief Engr. Wale George, Vice National President Shipping Zone; Chief Engr. Reginald Oyenobi, National Treasurer; Capt. Prince Dagogo, Vice National President Offshore Zone; Captain Cyril Nzekwe, Offshore Zonal Chairman and host of others too numerous to mention.

The association has continued to witness unprecedented growth since they elected a visionary,   workaholic,  incumbent National President, Chief Engr. Bob Joseph Yousou in synergy with Chief scribe of the association Comrade John Aleakhue Okpono and other lieutenants  as demonstrated in their doggedness,  unalloyed dedication to returning Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers And Water Transport Senior Staff Association to its glory.

According to the organisation “Our ultimate aim is to ensure that Nigeria seafarers, as professionals, conduct themselves, and work in the most internationally accepted disciplined manner, hence, in this workshop. we will be inviting internationally renowned, certified patriarchs of this noble profession to educate us on internationally acclaimed codes of conduct for Seafaring”.
