After due investigations by the national disciplinary committee of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), it has suspended some of its members over misconduct. They are-Mr. Adumaza Joe Sanni; Prince Taiye Oyeniyi; Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, and Chief Dennis Okafor.
Dr. Collins Kayode Farinto, the National Vice President of the association who also headed the national disciplinary committee made this known to newsmen on Wednesday during a press briefing at the National Secretariat, Dikko Inde House, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
Dr. Farinto who was standing in for the National President of the association, Tony Iju Nwabunike said that the association exercised its powers inherent in section 7(2C) of the supreme constitution of ANLCA, 2013 and summoned the aforementioned members of the association to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for misconduct, which it said was clearly stated in the letter of invitation sent to them.
According to Farinto, the national president on December 16, 2020 directed the national disciplinary committee of ANLCA headed by him to investigate the misconduct of the said members, with Barr. Iwuchukwu VSC as Secretary and Alhaji Oyekola Lateef Aderemi as a member. The committee thereafter, sat to deliberate on the assignment on three separate occasions, December 21, 2020; January 15, 2021, and February 4, 2021.
“The scope of the committee’s responsibility was to summon Adumaza Joe Sanni/Multimodal Logistics Ltd., Prince Taye Oyeniyi M/Mac Mary Nig. Ltd., Chief Dennis Okafor/Denca Services Ltd., and Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha/Pyramid Associates Ltd. and bring before them allegation of gross misconduct levelled against them and ascertain whether they run foul of any rule, and recommend sanction if necessary”, Dr. Farinto said.
Reacting to online reports that the national secretariat of the association has been sealed due to an order of interim injunction with suit No FHC/KN/CS/79/2021 and dated Thursday, March 5, 2021 filed against it at the Federal High Court in Kano state, which is been circulated on social media, Dr. Farinto said it is false, describing it as a “social media order”.
