The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Strike Force Team, Zone `A’, has said that the team through meticulous documentary checks, recovered N429.12 million from Demand Notices (DNs) raised from January 1, 2021 to date.
Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu who is the Coordinator of the Team in a statement noted that the Demand Notices were recovered through the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) component of the team.
He listed the items as 1,930 bags of foreign rice (50kg each); 552 cartons of foreign foot wears;1,227 rolls of chiffon textile materials; 18 pallets of perfumes, cosmetics and bags; 2,064 cartons of bulbs; and 1,810 cartons of alcoholic and non-alcoholic wine.
He said the team at a time enforced the Federal Government’s fiscal policies, Customs and Excise laws, made seizures with a cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N278.78 million.
“Operatives of the Comptroller-General Strike Force Team ‘A’ is in a renewed vigour and determination to curb and suppress smuggling to its barest minimum and its existence is to complement other component units of the Service in enforcing trade compliance.
“The Team is made up of two components; the enforcement and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Units.
“The successes recorded in the operations were based on intelligence, devoid of confrontations or injuries, all achieved within the period, January 1 till date,” he said.
The coordinator thanked compliant traders and patriotic citizens for complying with the Customs extant regulations and laws.
