The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has assured of being unrelenting and committed to safer road environment through sustained campaigns, even during the end of year.
The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi stated this over the weekend at the 5th annual workshop of the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA), held in Lagos.
Represented by the Corps spokesman, ACM Bisi Kazeem, Boboye said the FRSC has commenced “this year’s end of year special patrol towards the successful Christmas and new year celebrations in the face of threats of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic”.
He added that “I wish to assure the nation that we would be unrelenting in our commitment to safer road environment through sustained campaigns. But we require the support and cooperation of members of the public particularly the auto Journalists to achieve the desired goals. This is because creating understanding and compliance with the rules is strategic to achieving the success we require.”
The Corps Marshal expressed the excitement of the FRSC over the capacity development initiative for the members of the Association “as the workshop aligns fully with our own vision of developing the competencies of our personnel for improved service delivery.
“That’s why training and retraining of our personnel for positive impacts on the motoring public has been part of our development agenda in the past six years of my Management. Moreover, we are conscious of the fact that whatever training that our personnel receive will remain incomplete, if a strategic stakeholder like the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association who report on the world of motor vehicles are not given similar exposure in the field to complement the efforts.”
The workshop was graced by Dr. Oscar Obidoh, a senior lecturer in Covenant University and Mr. Yusuf Aweda, a certified online expert who were both facilitators.
Earlier, the Chairman of NAJA, Mr. Mike Ochonma, stated that the workshop is an annual routine by the association meant to train and re-train its members who cut across print, electronic and online media.
