The Rivers State Government has disclosed that it approved N18bn for the construction of a fourth flyover, as well as repairs and extension of a road project in the state.
The approval was the outcome of the Rivers State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Nyesom Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, at the end of the meeting, disclosed that the flyover would be at the GRA Junction of the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway Road and would be executed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
He said the amount also covered the dualisation of Tombia Extension Road to Ikwerre Road and Ezimgbu Link Road to Stadium Road, noting that the project would ease the gridlock being experienced in the area.

The commissioner stated that 20 indigenous engineers would be trained by the company as part of the government’s policy on youth empowerment and skills acquisition.
“The State Executive Council also approved the building of new legislative quarters for members of the state House of Assembly because their former facility was in a poor state,” he added.
