The Federal Executive Council has approved contracts totalling about N18.9Bn at its virtual meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, one of the contracts is the N2.27bn approved for the extension of asphalt overlay of the runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Sirika said at a press briefing, “This central taxiway is very critical to the operations of Lagos; it improves the efficiency and safety of the airport.”

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola also disclosed that the council approved about N10bn contracts for Abaji-Lokoja and Cham-Numan section of the Gombe-Yola Highway.

He said the cost of the Koton-Karfe-Lokoja section of Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja Highway was revised upwards by N3.076bn because the Gudu-Hada Bridge that was damaged would be repaired.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, stated that the council approved over N6.7Bn for the construction of roads in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
