A motor crash at a diversion point around the Isara Bridge, Ogere, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State has left two persons dead and 11 others sustaining varying degrees of injury.

The accident reportedly occurred around 9.50 AM on Monday and involved 23 persons and four vehicles.

The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps in the state, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the crash in a statement.

Akinbiyi stated that the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking and reckless driving on the part of the driver of a MAN-Diesel truck with number plate, LSD 759 XR, which was travelling from Lagos to Ibadan.

Akinbiyi stated, “We learnt from eyewitnesses that the fatal crash happened at the Isara Bridge area by a diversion point on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“The MAN-Diesel truck, which caused the accident, was outbound Lagos when in an attempt to overtake the vehicle in its front, collided with three other vehicles, two MAN-Diesel trucks and a commercial bus coming from Niger State to Lagos.”

He added that the crash led to the death of two persons, who were passengers on the bus.
