The Sokoto State government has imposed a 12-hour restriction on the movement of motorcycles in four local government areas of the state where bandits have been operating.

The Governor of the State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, stated this after the meeting of the State Advisory Security Council at the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto on Wednesday.

The local government areas affected by the motorcycles movement restriction are Isa, Sabon Birni, Rabah and Goronyo.

Apart from the motorcyclist rider restriction which was between 6 pm and 6 am, the SASC also resolved that all motorcycles and their riders in the councils would be registered.

Before the meeting went into a closed-door session, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, expressed concern over the spate of insecurity in parts of the state.
