The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Tuesday expressed concern over its diminishing revenue occasioned by the nationwide lockdown.
According to FAAN, this may stall the infrastructure development at airports as well as affect the payment of salaries of workers in the month of May 2020.
The authority’s Legal Adviser, Clifford Omozeghian, told journalists in Lagos that FAAN would collaborate with the Federal Government on how to address the matter in order to meet up with airport infrastructure challenge.
He said, “Our revenue has drastically reduced. Management will liaise with the Federal Government to see how this issue of revenue generation will be taken care of because it may be difficult to pay salaries.

“But I know that with the Federal Government on our side, certain measures will be put in place. The Federal Government has said salaries must be paid. That is a key instruction and that has been done.”
Omozeghian stated that the global problem had made the world economy to slide into a recession, adding that FAAN was not excluded as it strives to generate its revenue.
The FAAN official, however, expressed hopes that the present situation would be quickly taken care of, adding that the authority would continue to provide services to approved airlines during the period of lockdown.
Omozeghian further stated that the evacuation of nationals of some countries had been carried out at various times.
He said, “We had Europeans, we had Americans and we had British citizens, who were evacuated at various times.”
“Because we render essential services, some of our key employees have been on ground rendering these services and ensuring that these flights and their operations are smooth.”
