The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has ordered the Sector Commanders in charge of the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State to work with their respective state authorities to ensure effective mobile court operations against violators of the lockdown order.
He also cautioned non-essential workers against leaving their homes.
The Corps Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said that individuals arrested for violating the order will be liable to N10,000 fine and seven days community service.
He stated, “Tricycle operators who violate the lockdown will pay N7,000; while motorcycle operators will pay N7,000; cars N20,000, and trucks N50,000. All the fines also attract a seven-day compulsory community service.”
The FRSC disclosed that the mobile court in the FCT would operate at Mpape, Dantata Bridge by Airport Road and AYA roundabout.
It said the violators of the lockdown would be tried and if found guilty, will be fined and their vehicles impounded until after the order is lifted.
“This directive also applies to other states where mobile courts have been constituted by state governments for the same purpose,” the Corps clarified.
