The Chairman of the defunct Sosoliso Airlines, Victor Ikwuemesi, passed on on Tuesday in London, United Kingdom. Ikwuemesi was said to have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
A source close to the family said he was admitted to a hospital on April 11, 2020, and was tested for COVID-19.
According to the source, the result came out positive on Tuesday.
The deceased was said to have been on oxygen in the Intensive Care Unit.
The source, however, said when the oxygen was removed for him to eat, he could not breathe on his own and was put him back on a ventilator before he died shortly after.
Sosoliso Airline started operations in 2000 but had all its planes grounded in 2005 on the order of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, following an accident involving one of its aircraft in Port Harcourt.

Aviation expert and former spokesperson of the defunct Nigeria Airways, Chris Aligbe, said Ikwuemesi would be remembered as one of the veterans of the country’s aviation industry.
