Peugeot Automobile Nigeria has revealed that it is ready for the Argungun motor rally, a motorsport that runs with the Argungun Fishing Festival in Kebbi State.
The Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, PAN, Mr Shehu Dauda, declared that the firm anticipates leading other vehicle manufacturing and assembling firms to the event scheduled to begin on March 11.
Dauda, who spoke at the country’s first parade of indigenous auto manufacturers and assemblers of different brands of vehicles in Abuja on Monday, said PAN recently unveiled its multi-brand variants.
He said, “We are now a multi-brand company; we brought in one of our latest buses which is overdue to come on board our brand. It is a rugged and affordable bus.
“It is built with several options such as TV, USB points for every customer, creatively made to carry luggage with maximum comfort for users and customers.”
He stated that with the ongoing innovation ad efforts of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, PAN would return to higher production.
The Director-General, NADDC, Mr Jelili Aliyu, condemned the over $8bn spent on car importation into the country annually.
According to the DG, Nigeria imports between 300,000 and 400,000 used and old cars annually.
He, however, commended PAN, Stallion and Innoson vehicle manufacturing firms for investing over $1bn in the industry.
The Minister of Industry and Investment, Mr Adeniyi Adebayo, said the Federal Government would explore every opportunity to create employment through the auto industry.
