300 Nigerians who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates due to the coronavirus pandemic have been evacuated.

This was revealed by the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

She said the evacuees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Friday afternoon aboard an Emirate flight.

Dabiri-Erewa wrote, “300 stranded Nigerian travellers arrive at Abuja Airport from Dubai. They all tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding.

“They will be tested again at a ⁦Nigeria Centre for Disease Control facility while on a 14-day compulsory self-isolation as directed by the ⁦Covid-19 Presidential Task Force.”

This is coming on the heels of the evacuation of 50 Nigerians who were stranded in Pakistan due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The aircraft conveying the evacuees departed the Islamabad International Airport around 4 PM on Thursday en route the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

Also, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, said 15 nationals were repatriated from Europe on Thursday.

“Air France flight departed Paris to Lagos today (Thursday) and there were 15 Nigerians on board from France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Estonia who had registered for the evacuation with the Nigerian Missions in these countries,” it tweeted.
